I have been a long standing fan of Ubuntu. In my opinion it has the best of mac and windows.
I recently got a second monitor. The latest version of Ubuntu just picked up the two monitors without any trouble. I remember the hours I had to spend to configure dual monitors a few years back with the older version of Ubuntu.
I use the second monitor to primarily watch youtube videos while I am working on the primary monitor.
Sometimes fullscreen videos end up always showing up on my primary monitor.
I found these useful instructions.

This lets me place a window in a specific screen.
+
Maximize Flash - Chrome plugin is handy to maximize youtube videos in a window instead of using the fullscreen.
These two together have helped me customize my viewing experience exactly the way I want it.
Go Ubuntu !!!!
